Art Melbourne 2010 22/04/10-25/04/10.

The Art Melbourne 2010; Melbourne's affordable Art fair, was up and running for all to see during ANZAC weekend at the Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton Gardens. Thanks to the Outre' Gallery, I was invited to tag along for the majority of days the fair was open.

The fair kicked off on Thursday night at the grand opening. Free champagne was supplied as many got the first glimpse of the collected works of over 800 Australian and International artists (represented by over 100 galleries).

Displaying a wide range of artworks to suit all tastes and budgets, the Art Fair 2010 was an incredible day out to bask in the glory of art and the art world. Many artists such as Angelique Houtkamp; a world famous painter popular within the tattoo culture, Doug Bartlett; the collaboration between artists Nick Morris and Dave Bowers, and Kaitlin Beckett; a talented painter/mix media artist, made up just a small part of the artists involved in the Art Melbourne 2010.

Angelique Houtkamp's "The Girl I Love"
Kaitlin Beckett's "Walker"

Nick Morris' "Personal Attention"

Call it bias if you must, but in my opinion, I found the Outre' Gallery space to be the best overall. It may be down to personal taste or character, but it seemed to me that Outre' had by far the most refined and interesting pieces out of the whole Art fair.

Overall I believe the Art Fair was a amazing triumph, just like previous years. The atmosphere of the event was full of excitement and awe and I look forward to attending in years to come.
